Utah May Break

Hello friends! We seem to be chronically behind our blog and currently only post the previous vacation’s blog instead of the one we just completed. After the whirlwind of 2018, we settled into 2019 and took no vacation breaks for 5 months. During that time we really settled into the routine and had the pleasure of Georgia (Clark’s mom’s) long winter visit to help get us through our first Pacific Northwest winter. Meera turned 1, Soren turned 4, and Spring break for Soren came and went. We decided to finally take a week off to visit our Utah relatives, and thankfully my mother Mani was also able to join! We flew to Orem in the evening and the next move we all drove to Washington Utah, a small town right outside St. George Utah, which was our hub for our Southern Utah adventure. Of course we as usual did not sufficiently prepare so we kind of just made up our itinerary as we went along. We did our Zion adventure on the way down. Zion national park is about an hour from St. George and 3 hours from Orem, UT. We found ourselves facing a rainy afternoon. Abe came to the rescue with spare raincoats and we all tried to stay somewhat dry.

Nevertheless we kept trucking along.

Zion is beautiful of course so we still had a fabulous time.

The next day, we had sunnier weather and decided to do something a little bit more low-key but still fun. We explored Red Cliffs Desert Reserve, a lovely family friendly state park right outside St. George, and here is where we discovered our passion for slot canyons, as we saw our first one Jenny Canyon.

We then explored some lava tubes and general desert life.

We all had so much fun from this little explored gem hidden amongst the awesome national parks of Utah.

Amazing western wilderness.

We then had lunch and decided we had more exploring to do. So we decided to visit another part of Red Cliffs with awesome pools and beautiful stone formations. We just loved this adventure!

Desert flowers were in blood everywhere, how delightful!
